Greg Douglass (lead guitar) - Bill Baron (drums) - Dave Carter (vocals, bass) - Steve Derr (vocals, rhythm guitar) Country Weather is a psychedelic rock band that were closely associated with the San Francisco music scene of the late 1960s. Originally named The Virtues, the band was formed in the San Francisco suburb of Walnut Creek, California, by high school students Dave Carter (vocals, bass), and Steve Derr (vocals, rhythm guitar) in 1966. They were initially joined by Paul White and Craig T. Nelson, who were soon replaced by Greg Douglass (lead guitar) and Bill Baron (drums). In 1967 the band changed their name to Country Weather, at the suggestion of San Francisco music promoter Chet Helms. Chet also suggested that the band stop playing cover versions and concentrate on writing their own original material.[2] Soon after, they began opening for various psychedelic bands at key counter-culture venues in San Francisco, including the Avalon Ballroom, the Fillmore Auditorium, and Winterland. Although Country Weather never signed to a major record label or released any singles or albums during their 1960s heyday, they did record a five song promotional demo in 1969 to help them get gigs. 50 copies of this demo record were produced (making it a much sought-after rarity among collectors) and it received considerable airplay on local radio stations. With a strong area of high pressure off the New England coast and a low pressure storm system centered north of St. Louis, the pressure gradients were tighter together between them to create strong winds from primarily the north and west. As a result, this day was a beautiful but blustery day across much of the northeastern part of the country on the first full day of spring. Temperatures in the New York City metropolitan area were primarily in the upper 30s to low 40s at the time of this report, about 10° below average. As we headed into the Easter holiday weekend, winds would diminish while skies would remain fair and temperatures right around normal. For the time being, there was a Wind Advisory in effect for the entire region until 5:00 PM. NYC Halloween Weekend Historic Snow Storm- October 29th, 2011
What a storm this was! And what's more, it was an historic one. This storm brought with it the most snow the NYC area has ever seen in October. What a way to start the season, and technically...we're not even IN the season yet. Summer ended only a little over a month ago! And I have to say, I payed a big price shooting it today. My so called "waterproof" boots weren't quite waterproof and I can honestly say that these shooting conditions were the worst that I have ever experienced. Cold and miserable the entire time. Wet feet for hours on end which is about as miserable as it gets lol. But, what can you do, right? Another hazard I experienced today were huge chunks of heavy wet snow falling from the skyscrapers along Broadway in Manhattan! One huge chunk got me directly in the head, and another bigger chunk missed me by mear inches. Thankfully, I didn't get anything more than a slight bump on the head. Hope you enjoy the video!
