Rare Vintage Little Gem Amorce Tape Cap Lighter ca. 1892 Working GREAT.mpg
SELLING ON EBAY------- This is a working Little Gem Cap lighter: Made by Magic Introduction Co. in New York and Chicago ca. 1892. A unique amorce-tape cap lighter with rotating drum for the cap tape and a scriber. The Chicago model is much harder to find than the New York version. Marked "Patent applied for". Patented in 1892 by Nathan Matthewson. This is a very rare lighter as you do not see them for sale often. This lighter WORKS and was tested. How i did this was I made modern day Cap gun caps work with this lighter. You can get paper strip caps at your local store that would work with this lighter. First you cut the caps in 4 3/4" lengths. Then you trim the sides so that the width of the cap will fit on the rotating cylinder. The last thing you do is bevel the ends of the strip caps so you can put the ends of the in the slot and feed the caps onto the drum as shown in the video. All the instruction for use is in the Video. It is very rare to have a working model of this lighter. I also feel that this is the rarest Chicago model as the New York model has slightly different writing. This says Little Gem and has Gusky's on the back . The writing is very worn down from age but you can still read some.GUSKY'S is either someones name or it was indicating a store where it was purchased? These originally used Gasoline for fuel but the Modern day ZIPPO or RONSON liquid lighter fluid works fine. This has been serviced with a new wick/cotton wadding and tested. All functions are ...

This Table lighter stands 2 1/2" tall and is much Rarer than the regular sized model. The base is alabaster or marble type material and is somewhat heavy for its size. The lighter works perfect and has no problems. It is used and shows some wear. It has some plating wear from age. It works great too. 11/04/2011 1889 KOOPMAN'S MAGIC POCKET LAMP -- CIGARETTE LIGHTER /CAP LIGHTER TRADE MARK -- KOOPMAN'S PAT. OCT 29 1889 -- MAGIC INTRODUCTION Co. {SOLE MFRS} NEW YORK ... This Nickle Plated over brass "Koopman's Magic Pocket Lamp" is considered the FIRST American made pocket lighter. 1889 Koopman's standard single push semiautomatic cap lighter. Operation: Push the large button on the side, the lid opens the cap disc rotates and fires (POPPING THE CAP)-lighting the wick. To recap, push a small lever inside to open the front to get to the cap disc plate. APPROX. SIZE : 2 3/8" x 1 3/8" x 1/2" ... Item is used but works. The striker arm that rubs/strikes against the caps has worn down from the age and being used so you have to glue the caps lower than original for it to work.. Item is being sold AS-IS . You can make your own discs (TIME CONSUMING) by making a disc out of thin cardboard ( I USED PHOTO PAPER) and gluing modern day caps (paper) to it. Takes time to cut them all out . This method Doesnt work perfect but it does POP and light the wick for testing and impressing your friends. The lighter uses Liquid Ronson or Zippo fluid. I think originally the lighter fluid might have been Gasoline ???? The original cap discs are scarce so if you want to use and impress your friends with a working Koopman's 1889 Lighter, you have to make your own discs. This ...
