Here is the 'Pas de trois des odalisques' from the Bavarian State Ballet's (Bayerische Staatsballett) production of the full-length "Le Corsaire". January 27, 2007. **Notes - For this production, the Bavarian State Ballet called upon Doug Fullington to reconstruct pieces from the Stepanov choreographic notation of the Sergeyev Collection, a cache of materials that document the Imperial Ballet's repertory at the turn of the 20th century while still under the directorship of Marius Petipa. The collection includes notation of Petipa's production of "Le Corsaire". The 'Pas de trois des odalisques' is shown here in Petipa's original choreography. When "Le Corsaire" was first staged in 1856, the second tableau consisted of a dance called the 'Pas des odalisques', where harem girls perform a waltz in order to entertain Zulméa, the Pasha's Sultana. When "Le Corsaire" was first staged in Russia in 1858 by Jules Perrot & Marius Petipa, Petipa expanded the 'Pas des odalisques' into a classical pas, consisting of an entrée (being Adam's original waltz), 3 variations & a coda. The first two variations & the coda were set to new music by Cesare Pugni, while the third variation was transferred from another part of Adam's original score. The expanded 'Pas de trois des odalisques' was first performed by the ballerinas Nadezhda Amosova, Anastasia Amosova & Anna Prikhunova. **Pas de trois des odalisques (originally created by Petipa ...
