Malacanang January 13, 2012 President Benigno S. Aquino III led the toast for the annual New Year's Vin d'honneur held in Malacanang. In his speech, President Aquino proposed a toast for the stability, prosperity and security of a reawakened and reinvigorated Philippines for years to come. He further said that the administration has made great steps in fighting corruption and poverty and stressed the country's triumphs through the investments of both the local and foreign group. The President also said that the administration will strengthen programs that works for our countrymen like in education, health, housing and the Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT) Program among others. He also stands firm that the administration will not relent in its quest to hold accountable to those who seek to perpetuate the culture of impunity in our country. He further said that government will continue to ensure the safety of our nation through upgrades in the defense capabilities of the country. Joining the new year's Vin d'honneur were Vice President Jejomar Binay, Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile, Speaker Feliciano Belmonte, Secretary Albert del Rosario, His Excellency Giuseppe Pinto, dean of the Diplomatic Corps, Executive Secretary Paquito Ochoa, members of the Cabinet, members of the Senate and the House of Representatives; local government officials and members of the Diplomatic Corps.

Tanzania named to be among a few countries in the world that has never fought any civil war after independence. The call was made in Butiama village by the minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Mr. Bernard Membe who organized a trip to birthplace of the father of the Nation Mwalimu Nyerere for ambassadors and heads of international organizations in the country last weekend. The dean of the diplomatic corps, Mr Khalfan Mpango, who is the Democratic Republic of Condo (DRC) ambassador, thanked the ministry for the trip which he said was memorable and said it was gratifying to note that members of the diplomatic corps were visiting the birthplace of one of Africa's heroes.

Robert Sun ( '87 MBA), theCEO of Discovery Medical, Inc., spoke at the commencement ceremonies of the School of Business Administration on Friday, June 10, 2011. Sun received his BA from Zhejiang University in China in 1977 before moving to the US in 1984 to earn his MBA from the University of California, Riverside's business school. Since 1989 he has started several companies including Discovery Medical, Inc. and three joint venture factories in China. Sun was one of the founders of Chinese CEO Organization and American-Chinese CEO Society. He has also been on the Asian advisory board for Congresswoman Linda Sanchez, and has served as economic advisor to many Chinese provinces and cities including Liaoning, Dalian, TYing Kou, Shandong, Jinan, Jilin, Zhejiang, Ningbo, and Jiangxi.
