Endeavour Railcar - Campbelltown, NSW, Australia 2009
Wednesday 23rd September 2009 There are two carriage types of the Endeavour, one having a wheelchair-accessible toilet (TE), and the other having luggage space and bicycles racks (LE). Both cars have driver compartments, like other DMUs in the Cityrail Fleet. All cars are air-conditioned. Endeavours are designed to run as two car blocks (TE-LE). Two two car blocks can be coupled together to form 4 car sets for the peak period (TE-LE-LE-TE). There were 15 TE and 15 LE carriages built, although the 15th set was converted to Xplorer cars for the Broken Hill Service. NR108 - Campbelltown, NSW, Australia 2009
The NR class locos are used almost exclusively on NR trains, although they have made recent appearances on the Overland. This class is the first in Australia to have a variable horsepower, with three settings available. The class is also the first to have the Australian flag painted on the side of the loco - however, republicans within NR have removed the Union Jack from a few of these flags. To make the appearance of their locos more interesting, a few have been painted in customised liveries, as follows: Aboriginal liveries: NR30, 52 (the latter has been nicknamed the "pizza"). Trailerail (similar to normal livery): NR53, 54, 55. SeaTrain (dark blue): NR56, 57. Steelink (blue-grey): NR58, 59, 60. NR29, 73 and 103 have also been painted in a new Pacific National livery. Meanwhile, NR74, 75 and 109 have been painted in a bright red livery for use on the Ghan, while NR25 and 28 are in a navy blue Indian Pacific livery. See the Photo Gallery for photos. Pacific National is the second largest coal haulage operator in Australia, delivering approximately 83 million tonnes of coal per annum by rail to both domestic and export markets. The coal is hauled from the Hunter Valley and Southern and Western coalfields to the ports of Newcastle and Port Kembla, as well as domestic coal to power stations and steelworks located in NSW. Additionally coal is hauled in South Australia from Leigh Creek to the power station in Port Augusta. Pacific National carries 93% of New South Waless export coal. The annual value of the export coal exceeds $3 billion. We provide rail-based logistics services to customers in the energy, mining, agriculture and construction industries. Commodities handled include: non-ferrous ores stone aggregate limestone and cement products grain bulk liquids slag and other waste. Pacific National provides bulk grain logistics services to the Australian export and domestic grain industry. We transport the majority of grain in NSW, from grain storage facilities into export ports in Newcastle, Pt Kembla and Melbourne and more than 12 domestic locations across NSW and Victoria.
