Audi Q5 Hybrid quattro revealed - design
Whether intentional or not Audi has released the first details of the 2011 Q5 Hybrid ahead of its unveiling at the Los Angeles Auto Show. On the styling front, there doesn't appear to be any major changes except for new wheels which are undoubtedly wrapped in low-rolling resistance tires. Inside, there's a revised instrument cluster (which provides an overview of the hybrid system) and a smaller luggage compartment which holds 480 liters (17 cubic feet) of cargo. Like the A8 Hybrid concept, power is provided by a 155 kW (211 PS / 208 hp) 2.0-liter TFSI petrol engine and a 33 kW (45 PS / 44 hp) electric motor. Producing a combined 180 kW (245 PS / 241 hp) and 480 Nm (354 lb-ft) of torque, the Q5 Hybrid accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 7.1 seconds and has a top speed of 222 km/h (138 mph). Furthermore, the crossover can run on electricity-alone but only up to 3 km (1.9 miles). Additional information will be released later this month, so stay tuned for continuing coverage.

Following yesterday's early reveal, Audi has officially released materials for the new Q5 Hybrid quattro. Designed to appeal to eco-conscious families, the crossover features a parallel hybrid system which consists of a 2.0-liter TFSI petrol engine and an electric motor. The four-cylinder produces 155 kW (211 PS / 208 hp) and 350 Nm (258 lb-ft) of torque, while the electric motor contributes 33 kW (45 PS / 44 hp) and 211 Nm (156 lb-ft). All told, the system has a combined output of 180 kW (245 PS / 241 hp) and 480 Nm (354 lb-ft) of torque. This allows the Q5 to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 7.1 seconds and hit a top speed of 222 km/h (138 mph). More importantly, fuel consumption in the normal cycle (NEDC) is less than 7.0 liters per 100 km (34 US mpg) and CO2 emissions are under 160 g/km. To get these impressive figures, the Q5 Hybrid has a 38 kg (84 lb) lithium-ion battery which stores 39 kW of energy. When stopped, in traffic, all drive systems are deactivated. As soon as the brake is released, the electric motor powers the vehicle at speeds up to 100 km/h (62 mph). Furthermore, it's possible to travel up to three kilometers (1.86 miles) on electricity alone at speeds up to 60 km/h (37.28 mph). To keep weight down, the hood and tailgate are made out of aluminum and the quattro all-wheel drive system has been re-engineered with aluminum components. Audi A6 Hybrid footage
Audi will begin series production of the A6 hybrid, its second hybrid model after the Q5 hybrid quattro. The A6 hybrid employs an efficient parallel hybrid concept: Its combustion engine, a 155 kW (211 hp) 2.0 TFSI, works together with an electric motor that delivers 33 kW (45 hp) and 211 Nm (155.63 lb-ft) of torque. The electric motor sits directly behind the TFSI, occupying the space of the torque converter upstream of the modified 8-speed tiptronic. The transmission sends torque to the front wheels.

2012 Audi R18 e-Tron Hybrid Quattro LMP1 SOUND - Test at Monza Circuit
Today I recorded the new Audi R18 LMP1 e-Tron Quattro during a test day at Monza Circuit, in Italy. Unfortunately I couldn't appreciate how this car is really fast because of the really bad weather conditions. The car is powered by a V6 turbo diesel engine which can produce more than 500 BHP. But the e-Tron Quattro is also hybrid: in fact, while the V6 engine works on the rear wheels, the kinetic energy recovered in braking phase is stored, as electric energy, in some accumulators. The car can use this energy during the various accelerations, form a speed of 120 km/h (75 mph), discharging it on the front wheels. In this way a new Quattro traction is created.
